(Лондонский) Ллойд (объединение индивидуальных страховщиков и страховых брокеров, зародившееся в кофейне Эдварда Ллойда на улице Таверни в лондонском Сити в 1688 г.; в 1774 г. страховщики, входившие в объединение, сформировали Общество Ллойда (Society of Lloyd's); статус корпорации общество получило в 1871 г.; изначально Ллойд специализировался на морском страховании, но впоследствии стал заниматься и другими видами страхования; сам Ллойд не продает страховые полисы, а выступает в роли руководящего органа, устанавливающего стандарты деятельности для своих членов; страховые операции ведутся членами Ллойда, объединяющимися в синдикаты)

"Ллойдс": лондонская ассоциация страховщиков-андеррайтеров и 260 страховых брокеров (осуществляют маркетинг), специализирующихся на морском и практически любом другом страховании; основана в 1734 г., с 1871 г. имеет статус компании, но операции проводятся 350 синдикатами примерно 30 тыс. индивидуальных страховщиков; сам "Ллойдс" никого не страхует; чтобы стать членом "Ллойдса" индивидуальный андеррайтер должен внести крупную сумму денег и согласиться на неограниченную ответственность.
